Crawford County Jail Release Paths
Crawford County Jail is the county detention center operated by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office at 21 Hortman Mill Road in Knoxville. The Georgia Department of Corrections also lists the same location as a county jail. That listing does not make it a state prison. The jail may hold people before trial, people serving local terms, probation-violation detainees, and people awaiting pickup by another authority.
A person may leave after bond is met, a local sentence ends, or a court directs release. Another departure may be a transfer to GDC, another county jail, federal custody, medical care, or immigration custody. “Released from Crawford County Jail” therefore describes the end of one local booking. The destination field, release reason, and receiving agency show whether the person entered the community or remained confined elsewhere.
| Departure | Likely next source |
|---|---|
| Bond or court release | Sheriff release entry and Crawford court docket |
| Local sentence complete | Jail record and sentencing order |
| Transfer to state custody | GDC Find an Offender |
| Parole or felony probation | Parole Board and DCS Macon Field Office |
| Federal or immigration transfer | BOP or ICE after sheriff confirmation |
Crawford Jail Roster Release Check
The official jail population report is the first check for current local custody. Its navigation has Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date. The 24-hour tab is labeled “Inmates Booked Last 24 Hours.” It does not list releases. The arrest-date view also sorts current inmates rather than providing a historic release archive.
Visible roster fields include name, status, sex, height, weight, a redacted address field, arrest date, arresting agency, days in jail, total bond, warrant number, counts, statute, charge description, offense level, and court. Sampled records say “CURRENTLY BOOKED.” Days in jail is elapsed custody, not a calculated release date. Total bond does not prove that a bond has been posted.
The captured Crawford roster shows the current-custody layout used at the start of a jail release check.

The report helps preserve booking identifiers, but a vanished record requires direct confirmation because the public interface has no release-history tab.
Note: Crawford County publishes no stated roster refresh schedule or fixed period for keeping departed bookings visible.
Confirm Crawford County Jail Release
A name absent from the roster is a clue. It is not proof of release to the community. Save any known booking facts, then ask the sheriff for the release entry tied to that booking. When the result is a transfer, follow the person into the receiving system. When it is a court-ordered or bond release, use the Crawford court docket to confirm the legal authority.
- Search the current jail report by the person’s exact name and check the recent-booking view.
- Record the arrest date, arresting agency, warrant or booking identifier, bond, charges, and court when shown.
- Contact the sheriff’s records clerk and ask for release date, time, type, court-order reference, hold, and receiving agency.
- Review Crawford Superior Court for a felony bond, disposition, sentence, probation, revocation, or dismissal order.
- Check GDC, the Parole Board, DCS, BOP, or ICE only when the release entry or case facts point to that system.

Crawford Jail Release Records
The sheriff is the agency of record for the booking and physical departure from this jail. The Records Clerk page identifies Rachel Wilkinson, at rwilkinson@crawfordsheriff.net, as Records Clerk and says she maintains civil records, traffic citations, open records, and the county sex-offender registry. A useful request names the person, birth date or booking number if known, arrest date, and arresting agency. It then asks for the booking record and its release fields.
| Field to request | Reason |
|---|---|
| Release date and time | Fixes when Crawford custody ended |
| Release type or reason | Distinguishes bond, order, completion, and transfer |
| Bond type and amount | Connects the departure to the bond record |
| Court-order reference | Points to the controlling filed order |
| Hold or detainer | Shows why physical release may have been delayed |
| Receiving agency | Identifies continued custody after transfer |
The Georgia Attorney General’s Open Records Act information says available records should be produced within a reasonable time not exceeding three business days. If they are not then available, the agency should state when production is expected. Cost estimates above $25 are also due within a reasonable time that does not exceed three business days. Research found no Crawford-specific release-record fee, so ask for an estimate rather than quoting one.
Crawford Jail Records Contact
The sheriff’s official site identifies Sheriff Lewis S. Walker and provides both the jail report and local records channel. General jail and office questions use the main number. Open-record requests should be directed to the records clerk with enough detail to find the booking. Questions about day-to-day detention operations may be routed to the detention captain, but that role does not replace a formal records request.

Knoxville, GA 31050
Phone: (478) 836-3116
Records Clerk: Rachel Wilkinson, rwilkinson@crawfordsheriff.net
Detention Captain: Corey King, cking@crawfordsheriff.net
The detention page says Captain Corey King oversees daily detention operations, staff, and inmates. The public research did not find posted jail lobby hours, a release pickup point, property-window rules, or a weekend-release policy. Those details should be asked directly rather than assumed.
The GDC county-jail location entry independently confirms the address, county-jail type, and main phone number.
Note: Contact detention staff for an operations question and the Records Clerk for a copy of an existing jail record.
Crawford Jail Release Court Records
Crawford Superior Court is Georgia’s trial court of general jurisdiction for local felony cases and is part of the Macon Judicial Circuit. Its clerk is in Knoxville, even though county materials list some judge and criminal-docket contacts in Macon. The Clerk of Superior Court is the place to request filed case records. Judge-office contacts do not replace the clerk’s certified docket and orders.
The clerk at 100 GA Highway 42 South, Knoxville, Georgia 31050, is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The phone is (478) 836-3328. Georgia Courts e-access also lists Crawford Superior through PeachCourt and notes that e-access redirects to a provider that requires an account. A court entry can confirm bond, sentence, probation, revocation, dismissal, or another legal basis, though it may not show the exact time the jail processed the departure.
Crawford Jail State Transfer Search
Use the GDC Find an Offender search only when a Crawford case led to state custody. Search by exact first and last name, then narrow with a GDC ID, case number, age, race, sex, or court data when available. A GDC facility or active status means the person was not released from state custody merely because the Crawford booking ended.
A state record may later show a release, discharge, or parole-related status. A Tentative Parole Month is not a release date. The State Board of Pardons and Paroles describes it as the point for final review, subject to conduct and other conditions. If parole occurs, the Georgia Department of Community Supervision handles parole supervision, and its Macon Field Office serves Crawford County.
Note: A Crawford County transfer to GDC ends the county booking but begins or continues state confinement.
Crawford Jail Immigration Release Records
Crawford’s sheriff publishes a local immigration compliance report under the Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act. The Q2 2026 report lists 57 inmates booked, four LESC inquiries, four replies, no response indicating an illegal alien, and no USDHS detainers. Those values cover that quarter only. They do not prove that a later or earlier individual booking lacked a detainer.
The local report is useful because it documents how immigration questions are tracked, but the person’s own release entry controls. If that record names ICE or an immigration detainer, use the ICE detainee locator next. If no such notation appears, do not infer immigration custody from charge, name, or disappearance from the county roster.
The published quarterly page provides the Crawford County jail’s source report.

Its dated totals add context while preserving the need for a booking-specific release or transfer record.
Crawford Jail Booking Photo Requests
The roster has an image slot, but sampled text capture pointed to a placeholder image. Do not assume a public photo is present for every booking. A booking photograph should be requested separately from the release entry through the sheriff’s records clerk. Identify the booking precisely and state the record sought.
Georgia law sets special limits. O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19 restricts law-enforcement disclosure when a booking photograph may be published and removal would require payment. A restricted criminal-history record can also affect later public access, but it does not guarantee that every copy or court record disappears. The sheriff or other custodian must decide what may lawfully be released in response to the particular request.
Note: Request a Crawford booking photograph separately because it is not the same record as the release entry.
Crawford Jail Release Search Limits
No official 24-hour or 72-hour release feed was located. The public site does not publish its refresh schedule or how long a person remains visible after departure. It also does not provide a Crawford-specific good-time formula, release-day schedule, property pickup rule, transportation plan, or public lobby release point. Each is a fact to confirm with the sheriff, jail, or court when relevant.
Use two matching sources for a sound result: the sheriff record for physical release plus the court or receiving system for legal status. VINE can add a custody alert, but it is not a full release sheet. The GDC search is for state records, not ordinary county-only bookings. BOP and ICE apply only when federal or immigration custody is actually documented.
Note: A roster absence narrows the question, while the release entry and destination record answer it.
